6 Questions to Ask Your Potential Wedding Photographer

Before choosing a wedding photographer, it's essential to get to know the possible candidates thoroughly. The following six questions will help you gain deeper insights into the photographer's work and style, ensuring you select the right professional for your wedding:

What type of wedding photos do you specialize in? - This question will help you understand the photographer's style and approach. Ask whether they specialize in traditional and classic photos or prefer a more modern, creative, or documentary style.

Do you have prior experience with wedding photography? - Wedding photography is a unique and challenging field, so it's important for the photographer to have experience in documenting weddings. Inquire how many weddings they've worked on and take a look at some of their previous work.

How does the process of wedding photography work? - Ask the photographer about their plan for capturing the wedding day. How much time do they allocate for getting ready, the wedding ceremony, and the reception? Also, inquire about how they process and deliver the final images.

Do you have references from previous clients? - Request references from previous couples they've worked with. Ask these clients for their opinions on the photographer's work, service quality, and communication.

What equipment do you use? - Professional and reliable equipment is essential for wedding photography. Inquire about the photographer's cameras, lenses, and other technical tools they use.

How do you handle challenging lighting conditions and potential issues? - Wedding photography often comes with various challenges, such as changing lighting conditions, tight spaces, or weather-related problems. Ask the photographer how they handle these challenges and ensure that the results are consistently of high quality.

My answers:

My style is versatile, and I love the documentary approach where I capture moments from the background, continuously following the unfolding emotions, ready to capture the most touching or funniest scenes. During the couples' photo session, I do provide some guidance, but I aim for easygoing, dynamic, or even humorous promts so that you can remain true to yourselves while having a fantastic time together.

We always discuss the flow of the wedding, and if I notice that some parts are allocated too little or too much time, I offer my suggestions to optimize the schedule. Previous couples often return to me when they embark on the next significant journey in their lives, such as starting a family. I feel incredibly lucky to not only photograph weddings but also capture wonderful moments of expectant mothers and newborns.

I work with professional equipment, always carrying two cameras with me, a Nikon Z6 and a Nikon Z6II, along with a complete range of lenses. The cameras simultaneously save the photos to two memory cards, providing a backup in case of any issues. During the ceremony, I always mute the cameras, ensuring that I don't disrupt the intimate moments with the sound of shutter clicks. Thanks to the high-quality equipment, I can effortlessly capture photos in challenging conditions, even in low light. My lens selection includes 35mm, 24-70mm, 50mm, 85mm, 105mm, and 70-200mm lenses. Additionally, I have flashes at my disposal to ensure professional results even in the smallest and darkest spaces.

I'm truly passionate about my work and dedicated to creating authentic and beautiful memories for you. Capturing your special moments brings me great joy, and I can't wait to be part of your wedding day!
